Lake Tahoe Trip

On October 21st through 23rd, Joel and I took a weekend trip to Lake Tahoe. Our hotel was on the Nevada side of the Nevada/California border. It was a weekend of hiking, relaxing, and sight-seeing. The weather was perfect and the scenery was beautiful. Most of our hiking was done at Emerald Bay State Park in California. The second picture was taken after a mile hike to Eagle Lake, which is a smaller lake next to Emerald Bay. On Saturday we also took a hike to a stream that feeds into Lake Tahoe. The Salmon were running upstream to spawn and we were able to watch them. There were hundreds of them and they were all bright red. On Sunday we took a gondola ride up to a mountain top where we could look out over the whole lake. The bottom picture was taken there. Lake Tahoe is 12 miles wide, 26 miles long, and 1,600 feet deep. It is so clear that you can see almost 70 feet down. It was a wonderful trip.
